Celadon Lotus Petals Teacup - 150ml

This elegant celadon yunomi (teacup) is inspired by the famous Longquan celadon bowls from Song Dynasty China, taking their classic Chinese styles and interpreting them as a Japanese yunomi. The cup is decorated with hand-carved, traditional lotus petal (蓮弁 - renben) motif that symbolises longevity and purity. In a lovely attention to detail, Sugita-san has added fine comb marks to each petal.

The soft blue-green-grey of this celadon is achieved with small amounts of iron in the glaze, which turns blue-green when fired in reduction.
