Benishibori Tokoname Teapot - 290ml

Benishibori Tokoname Teapot - 290ml

This exquisitely crafted Tokoname-yaki kyusu (teapot) is made from a deep brown Tokoname clay, decorated in a benishibori (紅しぼり) pattern, emulating the natural striations of shibori-dyed Japanese textiles.

This kyusu's wider, flatter shape helps extract umami from high-grade sencha and gyokuro but is still rounded for easy use. It boasts a wide top opening so you can watch the leaves unfurl as they steep and clean them out more easily.

Its built-in ceramic sasame filter is perfect for naturally straining tea, with a wide shape for faster pouring and less clogging.

Made by master craftsman Umehara Jiro, who makes pottery under the name Gyokuryu Umehara (玉龍).
